What I am about to share with you is one of my favorite memories from Anita, little Ana, my 7-year-old host sister from last summer. I hope that it makes you smile or laugh.
So, here goes.
Like most 7-year-old girls, Ana is in a phase where she loves chapsticks and lipglosses. I was like this when I was Ana’s age, but I had a two-level carrier (similar to #15) that I held all of my most-prized possessions in: my chapsticks and lipglosses.
Anyways, I kept my chapsticks on the ledge of my bed frame in Spain because I feel like I always put on chapstick right before I go to bed. One day, Ana came into my room and discovered the line of chapsticks I had on display. She quickly jumped onto my bed, grabbed them all, and laid them out on my bed.
She picked up each chapstick one at a time, smelled it, and then gave it a number from 1-5, 1 being her most favorite and 5 being her least favorite, based on how good it smelled.
Her ranking results were as follows: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter at #1, Vanilla Bean Burt’s Bees at #2, EOS Mint Lip Balm Stick at #3, EOS Lemon Sphere at #4 and EOS Passion Fruit Sphere at #5.
She did this every time she would come in my room, which was almost once a day.
I’d say that I mostly agree with her, except I would swap #1 and #2. Vanilla Bean Burt’s Bees is my all-time favorite.
What was so funny to me was that after she ranked them the first time, every time after she would smell them in order of her least favorite to most favorite and say “now 3, now 2," etc. Not to mention, she also did not understand the concept of personal space with my chapstick. She told me that it smelled better the closer it was to touching her nose.
While I left my chapsticks on display for all of our laughs, I’ve decided that moving forward, no matter where I am, I will not be keeping my chapsticks on display until further notice. I don’t want anyone else’s nose going near my chapstick.
